The Honda Amaze Special Edition is based on the mid-spec S trim and for a premium in price of just Rs 12,000 over an equivalent S variant, the special edition model gets some important features addition and also a slight cosmetic makeover.

The festive season is just round the corner and there will be a slew of special edition launches from a number of manufacturers. Honda Cars has just kicked started that trend with the launch of the Amaze Special Edition. The Honda Amaze Special Edition has been launched for a starting price of Rs 7.00 lakh (ex-showroom) and can be had in four engine-gearbox configurations. This special edition Amaze is based on the mid-spec S trim and it essentially brings a few cosmetic updates and a few features as well. Here’s the detailed price list of the Honda Amaze Special Edition.

Each of the variants of the Amaze special edition have been priced at a premium of just Rs 12,000 over the equivalent S trim. It however does bring in quite a handful of additional features for that money. The most important feature addition is that of a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which does not come as standard on the S trim. Apart from that, it also gets  unique seat covers and a sliding centre front armrest on the interiors.

On the exterior, the special edition Amaze gets some distinguishing decals on the doors and a ‘Special Edition’ badge at the rear to set it apart from the rest of the range. Other features which have been carried over from the standard S trim include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, power adjustable and foldable ORVMs with turn indicator, height adjustable driver’s seat, steering mounted audio controls, shark fin antenna and wheel covers.

Under the hood, the Special Edition Amaze is either powered by a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol or a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 90hp and 110Nm of torque while the diesel engine produces 100hp and 200Nm of torque. Both engines can be paired either to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT-automatic gearbox. The output of the diesel engine however reduces to 80hp and 160Nm of torque when paired to the CVT gearbox.

The Special Edition Amaze is actually a great bargain, at least for the petrol manual variant, because you get all the essential features at a very attractive price point. The Amaze competes with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, Ford Aspire and the Tata Tigor. The Amaze, along with the Aspire and Tigor are the only other sedans in this segment with a diesel engine. Its also worth mentioning here that Honda recently crossed the 4 lakh sales milestone with the Amaze, spanning seven years of production and two generation of the car.
