mahindra xev9e be6 pack-two deliveries commence

By late July 2025, Mahindra will begin delivering the Packโ€ฏ2 79โ€ฏkWh versions of both the XEVโ€ฏ9e and BEโ€ฏ6. This is a definite turning point for buyers. Previously, customers could only order the 59โ€ฏkWh packs. Now the 79โ€ฏkWh option enters the lineup, priced at โ‚น26.50โ€ฏL for XEVโ€ฏ9e and โ‚น23.50โ€ฏL for BEโ€ฏ6 (ex-showroom, excluding charger and installation cost).ย

Big Battery, Long Range

The 79โ€ฏkWh options deliver claimed ranges of 656โ€ฏkm (XEVโ€ฏ9e) and 683โ€ฏkm [AC2] (BEโ€ฏ6) under Indiaโ€™s MIDC cycle. Thatโ€™s roughly 15-20% more than the 59โ€ฏkWh variants (542โ€ฏkm and 557โ€ฏkm respectively). These numbers position both SUVs among the longest-range EVs under โ‚น30โ€ฏL. They easily outpace rivals like the Tata Harrier EV (627 km in MIDC cycle).ย

But the icing on the cake here is the lifetime battery warranties for the first owners. Even post-resale, the warranties stand valid for 10 years of 2 lakh kms!

Real-world Utility:
โ€“ XEVโ€ฏ9e offers a 663โ€ฏL boot + 150โ€ฏL frunk, plus 110โ€ฏcm widescreen cockpit.ย ย

Platform Note:
โ€“ Both use the INGLO skateboard with a 3โ€‘inโ€‘1 powertrain from Mahindra & Volkswagen collaboration.ย

Performance: Speed with Substance

No compromise on pace. Both SUVs use Mahindraโ€™s INGLO platform and feature a rear-wheel-drive โ€œthree-in-oneโ€ powertrain (motor, inverter, transmission)

โ—      XEVโ€ฏ9e 79โ€ฏkWh: 286โ€ฏhp, 380โ€ฏNm, 0โ€“100โ€ฏkm/h in 6.8โ€ฏsec

โ—      BEโ€ฏ6 79โ€ฏkWh: 282โ€ฏhp, 380โ€ฏNm, 0โ€“100โ€ฏkm/h in 6.7โ€ฏsec

Thatโ€™s quite quick even if you compare these EVs with cars costing a few lakhs more. [AC4] The smaller 59โ€ฏkWh versions output ~231โ€“228โ€ฏhp with the same torque. For a modest price bump, Packโ€ฏ2 gives you nearly 50โ€ฏhp more grunt.

Charging That Keeps Pace

Both 79โ€ฏkWh models support 175โ€ฏkW DC fast charging (same as Packโ€ฏ3) for 20โ€ฏโ€“โ€ฏ80% in just 20โ€ฏminutes. AC charging takes around 8[AC5] .5โ€ฏhours via an 11.2โ€ฏkW home charger. This means long routes are worry-free. While the 59โ€ฏkWh variant uses slightly lower 140โ€ฏkW DC, the Packโ€ฏ2 79โ€ฏkWh gets equal fastโ€‘charging capability to top trims.

Tech and Comfort: More Than Just Battery

Both SUVs are loaded with features, many only found in luxury cars costing almost twice:

โ—      Infotainment underpinned by Snapdragon chipset, 24โ€ฏGB RAM, 128โ€ฏGB storage

โ—      Screens: BEโ€ฏ6 offers dual 12.3โ€‘inchโ€”XEVโ€ฏ9e upgrades to triple 12.3โ€‘inch displays

โ—      Audio: 16โ€‘speaker Harman/Kardon with Dolby Atmos

โ—      Oneโ€‘pedal driving & multiโ€‘step regeneration, with boost modes

โ—      ADAS Levelโ€‘2, radar + camera, adaptive cruise and lane-keep assist

โ—      Safety: Six to seven airbags, allโ€‘wheel disc brakes, brakeโ€‘byโ€‘wire, TPMS, 360โ€‘degree camera (Packโ€ฏ3), Secure360 surveillance

These remain identical across Packโ€ฏ2 and Packโ€ฏ3, delivering a premium experience without paying top-tier price premiums.

Packโ€ฏ2 drops a few niceties – like 360โ€‘cam – but keeps all core tech, performance, and range. And it costs โ‚น3โ€“3.4โ€ฏL less than Packโ€ฏ3.

How They Compare With Rivals

โ—      MG ZS EV: Offers much lower range, undercuts prices of Mahindra Born Electric EVs with 50โ€ฏkWh battery, but lags in tech, performance, and interior quality.

โ—      Tata Curvv EV: Much lower range, lags behind the Packโ€ฏ2 in range, performance and features.

โ—      Tata Harrier EV: Lower claimed range of 627 km. Conventional petrol/diesel style as compared to world-class design of BE6 and XEV 9e.

Packโ€ฏ2 puts XEVโ€ฏ9e/BEโ€ฏ6 ahead in range-performance-feature combo, for a midโ€‘20s price tag. Moreover, another clear advantage that both these electric-originย  SUVs have over many of the rivals is their 5-star safety score at Bharat NCAP. With equipment like 6 airbags, brake-by-wire technology, Level 2 ADAS and more, the Pack 2 models are as safe as their costlier siblings.ย

Mahindra’s EV Surge Supports Choice

Mahindra has delivered over 10,000 units of XEVโ€ฏ9e/BEโ€ฏ6 since mid-March, averaging a sale every 10 minutes, and thatโ€™s only top-tier 79โ€ฏkWh variants. That shows strong demand for large-battery models. This illustrates that buyers want range, performance, and tech, not just the badge. With Packโ€ฏ2, they get nearly all at a lower cost, thereby making a wholesome package even more accessible.

Summing Up Value

Packโ€ฏ2 79โ€ฏkWh delivers:

  1. Extended range, comfortably above the rivals.ย
  2. Sporty performance – 0โ€“100โ€ฏin ~6.7โ€ฏsec.
  3. Full fast-charge (~175โ€ฏkW).
  4. High-end features: triple screens, Level 2+ ADAS, 16-speaker Harman/Kardon with Dolby Atmos, oneโ€‘pedal drive, AR HUD, DOMS.
  5. Price advantage – โ‚น3โ€“3.5โ€ฏL less than Packโ€ฏ3.

If you love tech, long drives, and brisk EV performance, but donโ€™t require the 360โ€‘cam or top trims, Packโ€ฏ2 with 79โ€ฏkWh looks like the best value in the Born Electric SUVs lineup.

Verdict

โ—      The Packโ€ฏ2 79โ€ฏkWh trims of XEVโ€ฏ9e and BEโ€ฏ6 strike an ideal balance between cost, range, performance, and comfort.

โ—      They sidestep the extra premium of Packโ€ฏ3, while delivering the essentials that truly matter.

โ—      As Mahindra expands its EV reach – 10,000 sold in months – it shows this formula resonates with Indian buyers.

In short, if you’re shopping for a midโ€‘โ‚น20โ€ฏL electric SUV, and want genuine range plus tech-rich features, the 79โ€ฏkWh Packโ€ฏ2 variants of BEโ€ฏ6 and XEVโ€ฏ9e are likely the most compelling choice right now, and clearly way more well-rounded than any rival.
