Husqvarna Svartpilen 401

After debuting with the 250s, Husqvarna is already readying the Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 for a launch before the end of this year. It is expected to be priced lesser than the KTM Duke 390.

Husqvarna made their India debut with the Svartpilen 250 and the Vitpilen 250 and while the Swedish manufacturer is still yet to gain significant traction in the country, they already have their next product coming up. Husqvarna is already readying the Svartpilen 401 and the Vitpilen 401 for a launch later this year. Yes, the 401s will actually be reaching the dealerships before the end of 2021.

Husqvarna were initially supposed to start their India innings with the 401s but they instead went for the 250s for more accessibility. But the 401s are finally set to arrive now in India. Just like the 250s are based on the KTM Duke 250, the Svartpilen 401 and the Vitpilen 401 are based on the KTM Duke 390. There are also not many styling differences from the 250s to the 401s, both looking quite similar indeed.

The larger Huskies have been spotted in India before, camouflaged. The motor is of course from the Duke 390 which produces 43.5PS of power and 37Nm of torque. There will be however some changes on the India-spec 401s from the international-spec model. First up are the alloy wheels. The India-spec 401s are unlikely to get the wire spoke wheels and will instead come with alloy wheels from the Duke 390.

Yes, the Svartpilen and Vitpilen certainly look way cooler and retro with the wire-spoke wheels than with the alloys, and that’s a really sad miss. The pillion grab handle also seems to be a standard fitment on the India-spec model. We expect these Husqvarnas to be priced slightly lower or on par with the KTM 390 Duke. The Huskies actually are expected to sit between the Bajaj and KTM 400cc products.

The Bajaj Dominar 400 is currently priced at Rs 1.96 lakh while the KTM Duke 390 is priced at Rs 2.58 lakh. That’s a gap of over Rs 60,000 and the Husqvarna Svartpilen and Vitpilen 401 could be splitting them somewhere in between. We expect a price tag of around Rs 2.30 lakh and Rs 2.35 lakh. The Huskies will also be a rival to the Honda CB300R and the BMW G 310 R.
