Husqvarna is launching the Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 in February 2020. Both the motorcycles will be sold alongside KTM motorcycles.

Husqvarna Motorcycles is a Swedish manufacturer that is owned by KTM and is headed out to India. At the IBW 2019, the manufacturer recently displayed the Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250, its first offering for India.

Since KTM owns it, the Huskies are actually based on the Duke 250. Both of them use the same engine and other components that also come on the Duke. Basically, KTM will position them as a premium alternative to the Duke 250.

Talking about the price expectations, Husqvarna is likely to price the Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 between Rs 2.2 Lakhs to Rs 2.5 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). The Duke 250 goes for Rs 1.97 Lakhs and definitely, both of them will demand a certain premium over the Duke.

Reports suggest that the price of Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 will be higher than the Vitpilen. The former is a Scrambler-type motorcycle, whereas the Vitpilen is a cafe racer. The Vitpilen could demand somewhere around Rs 2.2 Lakhs and the Svartpilen, around 10-20K higher.

Further, in this price range, they will compete against a lot of motorcycles. Rivals include the TVS Apache RR 310, Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, Honda CB300R, Continental GT 650, KTM Duke 390 and the Bajaj Dominar 400.

All these motorcycles come in the Rs 2 Lakh to Rs 3 Lakh range, except the Dominar. This price range has suddenly seen a spike in the demand. Amongst all in this range, the Royal Enfield 650 Twins are the best-selling motorcycles since launched.

The Huskies get a 249cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder DOHC engine, that produces 30 BHP and 24 Nm of peak torque. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine will be BS-6 compliant at the time of the launch.

For suspension, the Svartpilen and Vitpilen use 43mm USD forks at the front and a WP-sourced Monoshock at the back. Braking is handled by disc brakes at both the ends with a dual-channel ABS as standard fitment. The bikes sit on a Steel Trellis frame and weigh around 153 kgs.

Meanwhile, the bookings for the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 have commenced across Bajaj Probiking dealerships and the price will be announced in February.
