Husqvarna Vitpilen 401

Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 has been spotted testing yet again on Mumbai-Pune expressway. However, its launch stands delayed, from March 2019 to sometime in 2020.

Bajaj Auto plans to bring the Sweden-based Husqvarna to the Indian shores. The two-wheeler brand has confirmed the development and will be launching 2 motorcycles in India, Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401.

Earlier, we reported that Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 will be launched by March 2019. First, they will be CBU units, with the local assembly commencing after six months.

Now, here is another spy-shot of the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 testing on Mumbai-Pune highway. It will be produced in Bajaj’s plant in Chakan, Pune. The spotted test mule uses Duke 390’s alloy wheels. However, the rest of the body looks similar to the original model.

The test mule reveals that the bike gets circular LED headlamps with surrounding DRLs, clip-on handlebars, circular digital instrument cluster and handy grabrails. The European-spec Vitpilen gets spoke wheels, which will also come for the Indian-spec bikes.

It sports chunky 43mm telescopic forks at the front and WP monoshock at the back. For braking purposes, front and rear disc brake with dual-channel ABS will come as standard fitment.

Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 sports a neo-cafe racer design with minimum body work and modern looks. Its counterpart, Svartpilen 401 is a neo-scrambler which does look a bit different from the Vitpilen. Vitpilen is known as White Arrow because of its White body colour. Similarly, Svartpilen is the Black Arrow.

Major differences between both the bikes include distinctive tires, exhaust, handlebar, seating style and fuel tank style. Rest of the mechanicals remain the same.

Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 will borrow its engine from KTM Duke 390. The 373cc liquid-cooled engine produces 43.5 BHP of power and 37 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

Meanwhile, the launch of Husqvarna bikes in India has been further postponed to 2020. Reports suggest that problems in setting up of assembly line and supplier identification have delayed the launch.

The price expectations of Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 is around Rs 3 Lakhs. Since it is a new concept of bike, it is priced over Duke 390. Even Svartpilen is expected to attract a similar price range.
