Since the start of the year 2012 Hyundai is busy scheduling launch after launch. First up, with the commencement of 2012, was the fluidic model of the crucial hatchback Hyundai i20. After a couple of months Hyundai launched its much awaited sedan, the Hyundai Sonata. If you think after launching two important vehicles Hyundai would be relaxing now, I must tell you that another car is yet to enter the Indian market.
We are talking about Hyundai Elantra, the next sedan from Hyundai’s stable which is as important as others. It is known since a long time that Hyundai will launch the Elantra in 2012 but so far no such event has taken place and even we are confused about the launch date of the car. Recently the Elantra was spotted without any camouflage on the Chennai Bangalore highway, reassuring that the launch will take place this year only.

The car has so many credentials to consider of which the most ones include winning the 2012 North American Car of The Year Award and almost beating Toyota Corolla for the largest selling car in the world spot in 2011. It is unfortunate that the car’s launch is still due in the Indian market. This new premium mid-sized sedan will compete with cars such as Skoda Laura, Chevrolet Cruze, Honda Civic, Volkswagen Jetta and Toyota Corolla.

After Hyundai Eon, Verna, i20 and Sonata, Elantra will be the next model to feature the fluidic design language that is already a rage in the Indian market, thanks to Fluidic Verna. The older generation Elantra left the market long back and therefore a lot was expected from the next generation. Fortunately Hyundai has done a brilliant job and it looks way too neater than the ongoing Verna. Features would not be something that customers should worry about as Hyundai will most probably offer plenty of them, just like it does in Verna.
Although the global model does not come with a diesel engine, Hyundai may consider using the 1.6 litre CRDi diesel engine as it will meet with the current diesel engine demand and will also complement the 1.8 litre petrol unit that is expected to be offered. So all in all it will be a complete package but will it be hit or not is what its pricing would decide. The Elantra was spotted testing in India in the beginning of June 2012 also.
