Hyundai introduces Santro Anniversary

The Hyundai Santro Anniversary Edition mainly gets some cosmetic changes in the form of a black exterior package but remains a standard Sportz trim otherwise.

It’s already been a year since Hyundai launched the all new Santro in India again. And inspite of the slowdown in auto industry, the Santro has still done pretty well for itself. To mark the anniversary of the new Santro, Hyundai will be launching the Santro Anniversary Edition with its price starting from Rs. 5.17 lakh. This special edition model is based on the Sportz trim level.

The Hyundai Santro anniversary edition gets some cosmetic changes in form of gloss black accents on the roof rails, ORVMs and door handles, and the wheel covers are finished in dark grey. it also gets some cladding on the doors, a chrome strip on the base of the boot and anniversary Edition badging. The anniversary edition will be offered in two colors – Polar White and Aqua Teal โ€“ the latter was up until now only offered in the Grand i10 Nios.  

The Santro Anniversary edition mechanically remains the same to the standard Sportz trim, the trim it is based on. It is powered by a 1.1-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which is tuned to produce 69hp and 99Nm of torque. The engine continues to get the option of being mated either to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

The Hyundai Santro Anniversary edition has been launched with a price of Rs. 5.17 lakh for the manual varinat and goes up to Rs. 5.75 lakh for the AMT variant, all prices ex-showroom. That makes if Rs. 10,000 more expensive than both the equivalent version of the standard Sportz trim. The interiors and features list remains unchanged though. the Hyundai Santro continues to rival the likes of the Tata Tiago, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and Celerio.

There’s also a lot to look forward to from Hyundai for the upcoming 2020 Auto Expo. Hyundai will finally bring the next-gen Creta at the Auto Expo and are also expected to introduce the face lifted versions of the Verna and Tuscon.
