Hyundai Verna outsells Honda City and Maruti Ciaz in Feb’19

For the month of February 2019, Hyundai Verna emerges as the largest selling c-segment sedan in India outselling the Honda City and Maruti Ciaz.

The Hyundai Verna is leading the charge in the C-segment of sedan by achieving the highest sales for the month of February 2019. Hyundai dispatched a total of 3,299 units of the Verna to its dealerships during the said month. For the same month last year, Hyundai sold a total of 4,001 units of the Verna,. This accounts for an 18% decrease. However, if we compare the sale of this sedan for the month of January 2019, then the same observed an increase in sales of 3% (3,216 units sold in Jan’19).

In comparison, the previous segment leader i.e. the Honda City sold a total of 3,273 units for the month of February 2019. On the other hand, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sold a total of 3,043 units during the same period. Other players in the market, which include the likes of Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento and Toyota Yaris sold a total of 898 units, 351 units and 350 units respectively.

Hyundai Verna has currently priced in-between the range of INR 8.08 lakh to INR 14.04 lakh (ex-showroom). It is available in petrol as well as diesel engine configurations. There are two petrol engines on offer. One is a 1.4-litre unit while the other is a 1.6-litre unit. The former is capable to churn out 98.6 BHP of power along with 138 Nm of peak torque. The later on the other hand is good for 121 BHP along with 151 Nm of peak torque.

Similarly, there is two diesel engine on offer with this c-segment sedan, a 1.4-litre unit and a 1.6-litre motor. The 1.4-litre engine is capable of churning out 88 BHP of power along with 219 Nm of peak torque. The 1.6-litre engine is capable of producing 126 BHP of power along with 260 Nm of peak torque. Transmission option for the petrol and diesel engine include a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. While there is a 6-speed torque converter unit on offer as well.
