Indian FTR 1200

American two-wheeler giant Indian Motorcycle has trademarked ‘Raven’ and ‘Renegade’ names. It might launch 2 new motorcycles globally, probably here too.

American brand Indian Motorcycle plans to bring 2 new motorcycles globally. Trademarks have been registered in December and January for the bikes.

Indian Renegade and Indian Raven will be the two upcoming motorcycles. The trademarks are put under ‘Motorcycles and Structural Part Thereof’ category. The patent has been filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Reports suggest that Indian Raven will be based on Indian FTR 1200, which was recently launched. FTR 1200 is a flat tracker and the only one in the Indian market.

Other reports suggest that one of the two new motorcycles might be an ADV bike. Indian Motorcycle developing an ADV bike would be its shift of focus from the usual cruisers. The ADV bike will compete with the likes of upcoming Harley Davidson’s Pan America ADV.

Indian Motorcycle has confirmed that India is a potential market for them. They recently launched FTR 1200 in India for a price starting at Rs 14.99 Lakhs (ex-showroom).

In India, UM Motorcycles already has bikes under the name ‘Renegade’. UM Renegade is their cruiser lineup in India. Could this be an indication towards Indian Motorcycle bringing up another cruiser?

We expect both the motorcycles to be the entry-level bikes from the brand. Its current entry-level motorcycle is Indian Scout Bobber, priced at Rs 11 Lakhs (ex-showroom).

Currently, many premium brands like Ducati, Harley Davidson and Triumph are considering entering the sub-500cc motorcycle segment. This particular segment is developing with time.

BMW Motorrad partnered with TVS for the G 310 Twins. KTM did the same with Bajaj Auto. Reports say that Triumph and Bajaj are coming together for a 500cc motorcycle. Even Ducati with Hero is speculated for a 300cc bike.
