Aftermarket upsized alloys wheels are all the rage among the car enthusiasts at the moment. In a bid to make their vehicles look cool and unique, car owners go to extreme lengths.

This Mahindra Thar with massive 28-inch rims is taking the car modification theme to a whole new level. The Thar is already one of the most popular lifestyle vehicles in the country. People anyway buy it as a passion project. No wonder, so many aftermarket modifications are done to Thar. Also, the automobile modification industry is largely dominated by aftermarket alloy wheels. Most people find it as the most attractive, relatively affordable modification to make their cars look unique. Here is one such case of overtly large alloy wheels on a Mahindra Thar.

The video is a YouTube Shorts but encapsulates the sheer size of these 28-inch wheels adequately. The height of the SUV is visibly enhanced and the alloy wheels sport the turbine pattern. The silver alloy wheels complement the red paint of the Thar really well with the black roof. However, there must be a downside to installing such big rims. This includes ride comfort and bump absorption. With larger wheels, the thuds and vibrations are felt inside the cabin quite prominently. The positive of having low-profile large wheels is great handling aiding the driveability.

Specs

The Thar comes with 2 engine options, a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel, and a 2-litre turbo-petrol. The oil-burner makes 130 PS/320 Nm of peak figures while the petrol makes 150 PS/320 Nm of max figures. Transmission options for both the powertrains are a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic with a low range box. You also get a transfer case and a mechanically locking centre differential.

The 5-door version of the Mahindra Thar is also in the works. Let us know what you think of such massive alloy wheels. Would you install them in your car?
