Jeep Wrangler Rubicon To Be Called Moab In Indian Markets

2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon sits on new JL Platform which is lighter and provides more rigidity to the SUV.

Several shots of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon have been surfacing the internet and now the latest reports say that the same will be called Moab when it is launched in India. The Rubicon is a 3-door version of the hardcore SUV which will be placed as a top-spec model.

Globally, the Jeep Wrangler Moab receives cosmetic changes like the blacked-out alloy wheels, off-road tyres and decals on the side of the hood.

We already told you how the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon looks when it will come to India. It sticks to its boxy structure and receives LED headlamps and tail lamps along with restyled bumpers and new alloy wheels.

The SUV sits on a new JL platform which provides rigidity and is much lighter than the JK platform which is used currently. Jeep Wrangler Rubicon gets additional 4ร—4 features than its other trims like front and rear locking differentials, front sway bar disconnect system and Rock Trac 4ร—4 system.

The ground clearance of the car is now 275mm with water-wading depth at 762mm. The SUV gets an approaching angle of 44 degrees, break-over and departing angle are 27.8 degree and 37 degrees respectively.

In the global market, Jeep Wrangler is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. A 3.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor which produces 284 bhp with a healthy torque of 347 Nm of torque. It gets mated to 6-speed manual gearbox.

The turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol motor churns out 271 bhp with 400 Nm of peak torque and gets mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. India sped model could see a 2.2L Multijet II diesel engine which produces 199 bhp and 450 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with an 8-speed AT.

The prices for the Jeep Wrangler are still unknown but we expect it to be priced near to Rs 65 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) mark. The top of the trim Rubicon model will be a premium to the buyers.
