Kia Carens Clavis was unveiled in India a few days ago, which bears tons of new-age and modern elements
The Kia Carens, not the Carens Clavis, is currently down to a single variant for potential buyers. We know that once the new or updated iteration of any vehicle arrives, carmakers try to get rid of the old model as soon as possible. While, in this case, Kia might still sell the Carens and Carens Clavis side-by-side, the effect on the Carens is evident. Let us take a look at the specifics of this latest case.
Kia Carens Now Available in a Single Variant
If you visit the Kia website right now, you will be able to see the Carens available in a single trim – Premium (O). In comparison, prior to the unveiling of the Carens Clavis, there were 9 variants to choose from. Clearly, Kia has deliberately done this, perhaps to get rid of the existing stock or for some other unknown reason. In any case, there are still 3 powertrain options to choose from. Nevertheless, all of these can only be paired with a sole manual transmission.
The 3 engine alternatives include the familiar 115 PS and 144 Nm, a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol mill which churns out an impressive 160 PS and 253 Nm or a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine which produces a healthy 116 PS and 250 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. This time around, no automatic transmissions are available. Still, one can opt for the iMT gearbox with the turbo petrol mill. Finally, the Premium (O) range starts at Rs 11.41 lakh, ex-showroom. As a result, the fancy features like ventilated seats, sunroof, etc., are gone.
