Land Rover Defender vs Mahindra Thar Tug of War

YouTubers often conduct tug of war competitions to compare the performance of two cars

In this post, we take a look at the specifics of a competition between a Land Rover Defender and a Mahindra Thar. Note that the Thar used in this video is the standard 3-door version. On the surface, this comparison might look a bit strange since the Defender costs almost 6 times the Thar. Still, these two are 4×4 off-roading SUVs, albeit in the opposite price spectrums of the market. The Defender is one of the most popular luxury off-roaders on the planet. On the other hand, Thar has been an iconic affordable off-roader in India for years now. Without any further ado, let us delve into the specifics of this case here.

Land Rover Defender vs Mahindra Thar – Tug of War

This post stems from Crazy XYZ on YouTube. The host has the two SUVs with him. In the initial part, the two conduct a simple acceleration test. As expected, the Land Rover Defender crushed the Mahindra Thar in straight-line acceleration. Thereafter, the team tied the two SUVs via a rope from the rear. On the count of three, the Thar driver accelerated hard, while the man in the Defender simply applied the brakes. Interestingly, the Thar was not able to pull the Defender even one bit.

However, the most interesting aspect appeared when the Defender driver started accelerating. Even he was not able to pull the Thar. The two SUVs simply kept digging a hole in the ground. They then moved to a new location. This time around, the Thar initially pulled the Defender a little, but then the Defender started moving the Thar. After no conclusion due to the cars getting stuck in the mud, they moved to a concrete surface. In the first round, the Defender pulled the Thar away convincingly. For the second round, they swapped the drivers. Nevertheless, the final outcome remained the same. Hence, the Defender is the undisputed winner of this challenge.
