In a rather unique case, a tug of war is showcased between a Mahindra Thar Roxx and Force Gurkha. Both these are immensely popular and capable off-roaders. While the Thar Roxx is a new product, the Gurkha is an established SUV in our market. Nevertheless, the Thar Roxx is the elongated iteration of the iconic Thar albeit with tons of new amenities, a new platform, a spacious interior and tweaked powertrains. Still, it retains its off-roading prowess. On the other hand, the Force Gurkha is a barebones no-nonsense SUV which people love to abuse in off-tarmac scenarios. In this post, it is present in its 3-door guise. Let us check out the results of this competition.
Mahindra Thar Roxx vs Force Gurkha Tug of War
This tug of war between the Mahindra Thar Roxx and Force Gurkha comes to us courtesy of _varun1185 on Instagram. It captures the two SUVs tied at their backs with a strap. On the mark, the two drivers accelerate hard. Initially, both SUVs stay planted to their spots while wheels experience screeching noise from all the power they are receiving. However, towards the later part of the video clip, the Gurkha is able to pull the Thar Roxx to some extent. While it is not too prominent, it is still considered a win for the Gurkha.
Both these SUVs are mighty powerful. The Thar Roxx comes in two variants – a 2.0-litre mStallion 4-cylinder turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre mHawk 4-cylinder turbo diesel mill. The power and torque outputs range from 162 PS (MT) / 330 Nm to 177 PS (AT) / 380 Nm with the former and 163 PS (MT) / 330 Nm and 175 PS / 370 Nm (AT) with the latter. On the other hand, the Force Gurkha 3-door wears a 2.6-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine which is good for 140 PS and 320 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine pairs with a 5-speed manual transmission. Even the 5-door model gets the same mill. The 3-door model retails for Rs 16.75 lakh, ex-showroom.

My View
Tug of war is a route that many YouTubers take to analyse the brute force of their vehicles. However, I must mention that it is not a great idea for a couple of reasons. Firstly, no one drives their cars in this fashion on a daily basis. Hence, this competition is, in essence, worthless and proves nothing. Secondly, putting such unnecessary stress on the engine of a car can bear undesirable results in the long run. In fact, the engine components can get damaged. Hence, it is not a great idea to imitate vloggers. Let us pledge to be responsible drivers and stay away from such activities.
