The price of top-spec Harrier Dark Edition Automatic goes up to Rs 20.25 Lakhs (ex-showroom). That makes it the flagship SUV from the manufacturer until Tata launches the Gravitas or the 7-seater Harrier. Unveiled at the Auto Expo, it will be launched by the end of this year.

BS6 Harrier uses the same 2.0 Litre FCA-sourced 2.0 Litre diesel engine. The engine now produces 170 PS instead of 140 PS, with the same 350 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed Hyundai-sourced torque converter AT.

With the BS6 engine, Harrier also gets some upgrades. It now gets panoramic sunroof as standard on the top-spec variants, bigger alloy wheels, three driving modes, traction control, ESP, Hill Descent Control, Manual Shift Mode, auto-dimming IRVMs and electric seat height adjustment.

Harrier continues to rival the likes of Mahindra XUV500, Jeep Compass and MG Hector. However, its new price range puts it at par with the new Volkswagen T-Roc and Hyundai Tucson. Also, it finds some indirect competition with Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
