New Bolero to be more car-like

Mahindra Bolero, the workhorse from the stable of Mahindra that refuses to age and still brings in strong sales numbers for the company, has been doing well in the country since its launch. In a bid to keep the buzz alive around the SUV, Mahindra has just given it some extra goodies and launched it as the Mahindra Bolero Special Edition. It will be available only with the “Pearl White” paint option and only be 500 units of SUV will be on sale.

Price

Mahindra has not released the pricing of the SUV, but we expect it to cost Rs 50,000 more than the ZLX variant which costs about Rs 7.53 Lakh ex-showroom, New Delhi price.

What’s New?

Mahindra Bolero Special Edition

It gets sporty new decals on the exteriors coupled with “Blue Vision headlamps”. We don’t really know what this exactly means but Mahindra could be using either a bluish tint for the headlamp glass or HID lamps. Coming to the changes on the inside, the SUV comes shod with European Leather interiors which add a premium appeal to the otherwise simple interiors of the Bolero. The audio system now gets Bluetooth and USB Connectivity for additional convenience of its customers. What seems to be the nicest touch in the special edition is the addition of ABS on the rear brakes. The Bolero as standard comes with disc brakes up-front and drum brakes at the rear, the special edition gets ABS for the rear brakes only which lowers the chances of the rear brakes locking up under hard braking. These are pretty much about it in terms of the additions in the Mahindra Bolero Special Edition.

The Bolero Special Edition continues to be powered by the standard engine available across the range, a 2.5-litre m2DiCR engine which has a power output of 62 BHP @ 3200 RPM and a peak torque of 195 NM @ 1400-2200 RPM on offer. Mahindra is believed to be readying the next generation of the SUV which will come with a comprehensive revamp and ABS as standard in 2015. The Bolero has been the best-selling SUV in the country for a long while now and it has dented the sales of the likes of Tata Sumo, Tata Grande MK 2(previously known as Sumo Grande).

It will have to now lock horns with the Tata Movus which will be launched soon. The Bolero clocks about 10,000 units/month so the special edition of the car is expected to run out of stocks pretty soon. So if you were thinking of getting one for yourself, why not go ahead and check  out the special edition? Also let us know your thoughts about the SUV in the comments section below.
