Mahindra BE 6 was under scrutiny from online media houses and netizens after a video claimed that the vehicle was unable to move after a minor accident
Mahindra has officially released a statement with regard to the recent crash of a BE 6 where it allegedly refused to move after a sensor failure. The Indian auto giant has been in the news due to its incredibly futuristic new electric SUVs. These use the new INGLO platform and are meant for global markets. Note that Mahindra will sell its upcoming EVs under two new banners – XEV and BE. It has launched one product under each of these in our market recently – XEV 9e and BE 6. However, a minor crash of the latter surfaced online a few days ago.
Mahindra Dismisses Sensor Failure Reports from BE 6 Crash
The video was getting circulating around on the internet which showed the aftermath of the incident. It was claimed that the vehicle was unable to move due to a sensor failure. Remember, the accident took place with a Datsun Go. However, Mahindra has officially said that it was not the case. Their official response said, “We categorically state that these claims are baseless and incorrect. The vehicle’s stoppage was not related to any sensor failure as being claimed in the video. Following the collision, the car was immediately moved to the side of the road, clearly demonstrating its functionality. Given that there was a collision, the vehicle was appropriately transported to the dealership for inspection.”
Thereafter, it went on to highlight the safety prowess of the BE 6 as per the latest crash test results at the Bharat NCAP. However, the comment section is full of Mahindra car owners and other netizens who were writing long descriptions about the issues in their cars. The most prominent aspect was pertaining to electronics, software and infotainment. Unfortunately, many others joined in sharing their experiences with the problems in their Mahindra cars. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that people did not buy Mahindra’s explanation.
My View
I acknowledge the fact that one can’t ascertain the veracity of content online these days. Hence, we must not trust everything showcased on the internet. It is high time we must conduct our own research and not take everything at face value. Many people even share content just to get views and user engagement. Therefore, let us be vigilant about these things which are becoming more and more popular these days. It will be interesting to see more details in this case.
