The EV ecosystem is being developed rapidly in India as companies accelerate the process of installing charging stations

Mahindra Charge_IN has commenced the process of inaugurating a 180 kW ultra-fast charging network across the nation. This is part of the plan to install 1,000 charging points in the country by the end of 2027. In recent times, the demand and sales of EVs have surged tremendously. As a consequence, the charging infrastructure needs to keep up. The government and car companies are trying to work on this and we are witnessing the results. With fast chargers, the appeal of EVs will increase exponentially because the main cause of concern why people don’t buy EVs is long charging times and the lack of availability.

Mahindra has shared a major update on its EV plans. The company will set up 250 ultrafast EV charging stations with over 1,000 individual charging points by the end of 2027. Each station will offer 180 kW fast chargers. This is part of Mahindraโ€™s Charge_IN network, which aims to make long-distance electric travel easy and reliable. Iโ€™ve been covering Indiaโ€™s EV journey for years. One thing is clear, buyers want confidence on highways. Mahindra is directly addressing this.

The brand has already opened its first two Charge_IN stations. One is at Hoskote on NH75 between Bengaluru and Chennai. The other is at Murthal on NH44, around 50 km from Delhi. Both stations have two 180 kW chargers that can charge four EVs at the same time. This is an important milestone in building Indiaโ€™s fast-charging backbone. Mahindra says its upcoming eSUVs, XEV 9e, BE 6 and the XEV 9S, can charge from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes using these chargers. With real-world ranges of around 500 km, these vehicles are clearly aimed at customers who want to travel long distances without stress.

Mahindra also plans to place Charge_IN stations along major highways. These locations will include restaurants and cafรฉs, so EV owners can take a short break while their car charges. This is exactly how highway charging should be, simple, predictable and quick. Using the Me4U app, Mahindra owners can find charging stations, charge their vehicles and make payments. The fast chargers will also be open to EVs from other brands through the Charge_IN by Mahindra app and popular charging aggregators. The Me4U app already shows access to around 34,000 public charging points across India. With this move, Mahindra is pushing India closer to a future where electric road trips feel as natural as driving a petrol or diesel car.
