Mahindra XUV300 Safety Rating

Mahindra XUV300 becomes the second SUV in India to score 5 stars safety rating in the Global NCAP Crash Test and the first car to secure 4 stars in child safety.

After Marazzo, Mahindra has achieved yet another high safety rating with the XUV300. The compact SUV has scored 5 stars rating in overall safety in the Global NCAP Crash Tests. Seems like Nexon is not alone in its segment now.

Mahindra XUV300 achieved 4-stars safety rating in child occupancy, making it the first Indian car to get so. Its structure and footwell area were rated stable. The head and protection for the driver and the front passenger were rated good, while the chest production received an adequate rating.

For adult protection, Mahindra XUV300 scored 16.42 points out of 17. As for child protection, it scored 37.44 out of 49 points. It lost out on points for child occupancy because of poor ISOFIX markings and there’s no three-point seat belt for the middle rear seat passenger as standard fitment.

Mahindra XUV300 is amongst the latest compact SUVs in India. It comes with a 1.2 Litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5 Litre four-cylinder diesel engine. The petrol engine was recently upgraded to BS6 norms, increasing the prices by a small margin.

The petrol motor is capable of producing 110 BHP and 200 Nm of peak torque. The diesel motor produces 117 BHP and 300 Nm of peak torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox comes as standard fitment, while the diesel motor gets an optional 6-speed AMT.
