2019 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800

Maruti Alto 800 was recently launched with a new BS-6 engine. The deliveries of the updated hatchback have commenced.

New Maruti Alto 800 is the second hatchback from Maruti to get the BS-VI compliance engine and the first unit is already delivered. The Indian car manufacturer is gearing up fast before the BS-VI emission norms come into action.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) launched the new 2019 Alto 800 on 23rd April 2019 with subtle changes on the exteriors and a BS-VI compliance engine under the hood. The new engine reduces NVH levels and improves efficiency.

The exteriors of the new Alto 800 comes up with a new mesh grille at the front, new bumpers and side fenders. The side profile of the car is left unchanged and the 800 and Maruti Suzuki badging at the rear have been removed. The interiors largely remain identical to the older Alto 800 but new AC vents and bottle holders seem to be an addition.

The 2019 Alto 800 is powered by 796cc three-cylinder petrol motor delivering a power output of 48bhp and a peak torque of 69Nm. The engine is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission and delivers high fuel efficiency of 22.05Kmpl.

The entry-level hatchback was earlier speculated to be discontinued post April 2019. Reports suggested that making it adhere to the safety norms, would increase the pricing by a considerable margin.

The company has worked on the engine hardware and software with technological advancement in the exhaust note so the BS-VI engine reduces nearly 25% of Nitrogen Oxides (NOh) in vehicular emissions.

The pricing for the new Alto starts at Rs 2.93 lakh for the base variant and goes up to Rs 3.71 lakh for the top end variant (all prices, ex-showroom). It continues its competition against Renault Kwid and Datsun GO.
