Maruti Alto K10 CNG vs S-Presso CNG Comparison

Maruti Alto K10 CNG vs S-Presso CNG Comparison

Maruti Suzuki is the leader in the space of CNG-powered cars in India and we compare the two most affordable models (launch of the K10 CNG soon).

The Maruti Alto K10 and S-Presso are the most affordable products in our market which makes the comparison of their CNG versions interesting. Note that the CNG trim of the K10 has not been launched yet. On the other hand, the S-Presso is available in the CNG variant already. The rising fuel prices are forcing people to look elsewhere which is what makes these two products attractive offerings as they are priced in the entry-level segment in our market.

Since these two products come with similar powertrains, the CNG versions will also have identical capabilities. The S-Presso CNG is powered by a 1.0-litre engine that develops a decent 56 hp and 82 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. It has an impressive mileage of 32.73 km/kg. The upcoming Alto K10 CNG will also carry the same engine although the mileage may vary slightly.

Therefore, we can expect the CNG variants to cost Rs 5.77 lakh and Rs 5.95 lakh, ex-showroom.

Design Comparison

While the powertrains and prices might be almost similar, what will determine the choice of the buyers will be the styling. Both these vehicles are completely different in terms of design and body type. While the new K10 is a regular compact hatchback with decent styling, the S-Presso can be considered a micro-SUV with a tall-boy stance.

Verdict

People looking for the most affordable vehicle resembling the SUV silhouette with a relatively high seating position and a higher ground clearance (180 mm) can opt for the S-Presso. The slight premium is justified by the SUV body design and more peace of mind with higher ground clearance. On the other hand, if you will primarily live in a city and don’t need high ground clearance and like the looks of the K10, you can save those Rs 13,000 – Rs 15,000 and go with the Alto.
