The Escudo will become the flagship offering of Maruti’s Arena dealership network
The Maruti Escudo is about to make its entry into the heavily crowded SUV space of the Indian market. Note that it will most likely be positioned somewhere between the Brezza and Grand Vitara, in terms of pricing. That will be a sweet spot for a whole bunch of car buyers looking for an alternative to the Grand Vitara within the Maruti Suzuki family. Being the largest carmaker in the country, Maruti Suzuki continues to introduce new products in just about every segment. That has been its way to fend off competition.
Maruti Escudo Launch on September 3
Based on a few spy images of the camouflaged vehicle, we have created a virtual rendition of what the Maruti Escudo could look like. We can expect it to borrow the design language from its fellow Maruti SUVs. Since it will be the closest to the Grand Vitara and Brezza, it could boast a sleek LED light strip, which will stretch across its fascia. Also, the bumper could be sporty, and the headlamps might be positioned in its extreme edges. On the sides, it will be around the similar length as the Grand Vitara.
There will be elegant alloy wheels and a 5-seat layout, with a 7-seat option on the cards for later. Interestingly, since it will most likely be based on the Global C platform, it could woo buyers due to its colossal boot compartment. Apart from that, there won’t be any shortage of connectivity, convenience, tech and safety equipment. That is something modern cars need to attract new buyers. This will include things like a digital instrument cluster, a large infotainment display, 6 airbags, sunroof, automatic climate control, etc.
Expected Specs
Even though no official confirmation is available, I firmly believe that it will utilize the same powertrain and transmission alternatives as the Grand Vitara. This means a 1.5-litre mild hybrid petrol mill making 103 hp and a 1.5-litre strong hybrid engine, developing 116 hp. Manual and automatic transmissions will be on offer with both. Finally, we might even see the AWD version, just like the Grand Vitara. In any case, we will wait until September 3, 2025, to know all details.
