The upcoming Hyundai Creta-rival will be sold in two guises - one each from Toyota and Maruit Suzuki.

Codenamed YFG, the Hyundai Creta-rival from Maruti Suzuki should launch in the last quarter of the current calendar year

Already spied a few times by now, the Maruti YFG (Codename) is a compact SUV that should launch by the year-end, probably around Diwali 2023. Hot-sellers like the Hyundai Creta as well as the Kia Seltos will be in the upcoming model’s crosshairs, which means the upcoming model will become the first-ever C-SUV from the country’s largest selling carmaker.

Maruti’s Hyundai Creta Rival – Exterior & Interior

Visually, the upcoming model will look a fair bit like the Suzuki A-Cross sold abroad. The front-end will comprises multi-tier lighting arrangement along with a pretty big grille.  It should measure approximately 4.3-metre in length and even spawn a Toyota sibling with a revised front fascia. In fact, the new model will be developed on the Japanese auto-giant’s low-cost DNGA platform that is, basically, a low-cost spinoff from the TNGA modular architecture. The new model will be manufactured alongside the D22 Toyota SUV in Karnataka.

Other highlights of the styling package will include diamond-cut mag wheels, plastic cladding on the wheel arches, large rear quarter glass, two-tone paint options and wraparound taillights. There are good chances the new Hyundai Creta-rival would be sold through the Nexa chain of retail outlets,   Other exterior highlights of the five-seater SUV are diamond cut alloy wheels, squared-off wheel arches and wraparound LED tail lamps. Both the midsize SUVs will rival Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor and Nissan Kicks in the highly competitive segment. The Maruti Suzuki YFG will be sold through Maruti Suzuki Nexa premium outlets.

Details of the interior are scarce at the moment but here, again, one can expect visual inspiration from the Suzuki A-Cross. The features on offer will include all the goodies like wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, wireless smartphone charger, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, electric adjustments for the driver’s seat, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera with front and rear parking sensors, and Level-1 ADAS.

Safety & Specs

The safety equipment on offer will include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, cruise control, Hill Assist, all 4 disc brakes, traction control, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, automatic high beam and lane departure warning. As for the performance, a strong hybrid powertrain will more likely be employed and it could work in a similar fashion to that of the Camry Hybrid enabling short distance drive in a dedicated electric-only mode.
