In my experience, niche lifestyle products like the Jimny have always struggled to scale in India, largely due to their limited practicality. This stretched XL Limousine iteration feels like Maruti Suzuki’s attempt to broaden its appeal by injecting space and premium appeal into an otherwise hardcore off-roader. However, I believe this risks diluting the very character that makes the Jimny globally iconic. Ultimately, its success will depend on whether Indian buyers prioritise novelty and space over authentic off-road credentials.
