Maruti Suzuki India has announced that its Jimny 5-door SUV has crossed cumulative exports of 1 lakh units since shipments began in 2023. Manufactured exclusively in India, the off-roader is now sold in over 100 countries, including Japan, Mexico, Australia, South Africa and Chile. The milestone reflects an average of more than 137 units exported every day since the model’s export operations began less than two years ago. The Jimny 5-door now stands as Maruti Suzuki’s second-most exported vehicle, after the Fronx. In Japan, where the SUV is sold as the “Jimny Nomade,” the model saw massive demand with over 50,000 bookings within days of its January 2025 launch.
Made-in-India 5-door Maruti Jimny Built for Global Off-Road Appeal
The Jimny 5-door is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine and features Suzuki’s ALLGRIP PRO 4WD system. Its ladder-frame chassis and off-road tuning have helped it gain popularity among adventure seekers across continents. According to Maruti Suzuki, the model represents a blend of durability, simplicity, and functionality — qualities that have resonated with both off-road enthusiasts and everyday users.

Strengthening India’s Export Leadership

The success of the Jimny 5-door adds to Maruti Suzuki’s growing export momentum. The company shipped over 2 lakh vehicles in the first half of FY2025-26, marking a 40% year-on-year increase and setting a new half-yearly record. Maruti Suzuki now holds 46% share of India’s passenger vehicle exports, underscoring its leadership in the global small-car segment. The automaker currently exports 17 models, with the Jimny playing a key role in showcasing India’s capability as a global manufacturing hub under the “Make in India for the World” initiative.
