Maruti Suzuki UVs have achieved a milestone with 10 lakhs units sold in India with a market share of 25.46% during first four months of FY 2019-20.

Maruti Suzuki has achieved a milestone today. Their UVs sales have crossed the 10 lakh mark which is a new record for UVs sales registered by the company. Maruti Suzuki UVs category includes the likes of the Vitara Brezza, the Ertiga and the S-Cross. All these cars together have crossed the 10 lakh sales mark in India.

Among the three, the Ertiga is oldest car here, released back in 2012. Then came the S-Cross in 2015 and was the first car to be sold through a NEXA dealership. Finally came the Vitara Brezza in 2016 and it has been the most popular UV from Maruti Suzuki since then. Just last month, the Brezza hit the 4.5 lakh sales mark. The Ertiga follows in second place with regard to sales numbers while the S-Cross takes the third spot.

Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India, said, “We thank our valued customers for their belief and support. In recent years the company has strategically widened its utility vehicle portfolio matching customer demands. The UV segment is growing fast and we bring out products that match and compliment customer’s demand. Our offerings in the utility vehicle segment – Vitara Brezza, S-Cross and Ertiga, are aimed to tap the dynamic needs of our consumers. The recently launched XL6 reflects aspirations of urban individuals. We will continue to boost our relationship with customers by focusing to create products for them that are best in-class in quality, features and technology.”

Maruti Suzuki also tops the utility vehicle sales chart with a market share of 25.46% during first four months of FY 2019-20. The three UVs in Maruti Suzuki’s lineup are very different from each other and appeal to different sets of people. Recently, the Maruti Suzuki XL6 also joined this lineup of UVs.

However, while Maruti has achieved this milestone with their UVs, the overall condition of sales even for Maruti Suzuki is not that favorable. In July, Maruti Suzuki recorded a decline in sales by 36%, selling 94,478 units while in August, sales were again down by 34%, selling 93,173 units. That’s a second consecutive month for Maruti Suzuki with sales below 1 lakh. With the government having announced some relief measures lately, let’s hope the results start showing in time.
