India's only Maruti Swift with 22-inch alloys now pays homage to late Sidhu Moosewala.

Aftermarket alloy wheels are the easiest way to make your vehicle stand out in the crowd but there is a limit to how large wheels can one install in a car.

This has to be India’s only Maruti Swift that has 22-inch alloys. Swift is among the most popular hatchbacks in the country for years now. It comes with decent styling and elegant alloy wheels from the factory. However, the people who are in constant search for making their cars look unique are never satisfied with the stock components. That is when ideas like aftermarket upsized alloy wheels come into the picture. But one needs to know the limit for these alloys.

The video clip has been posted by waraich_inder05 and sukhwaraich06 on Instagram. The visuals capture a regular silver-colour Maruti Swift with extraordinarily large alloy wheels. The turbine design on the alloys makes it look even funkier. These are 22-inch alloys, whereas the standard factory-fitted wheels are 15-inchers. Therefore, one could imagine how out of place these appear. Evidently, they have caused the hatchback to sit way up from the ground. It might be a good thing if you are in need of higher ground clearance, but not for anything else. The window of the hatchback has a photo of Sidhu Moosewala highlighting his love for massive alloys in his cars.

It must be noted that oversized alloy wheels serve little purpose apart from enhancing the aesthetics. Such alloys have low-profile tires which means that the sidewall of the tire is thin but the width is large. Due to less rubber on the sides, the cushioning effect is reduced. Hence, the potholes and bumps on the road enter the cabin frequently. This compromises the ride quality a lot. Also, there will be added stress on the suspension system. On the flip side, the traction and grip around the corner are enhanced due to increased width.

But one must ask the experts because there is a certain tolerance within which one could upsize the tyre without compromising on other parameters of a vehicle. But going beyond that will have a ton of downsides apart from the degraded ride quality. This includes things like reduced fuel economy because the weight of the vehicle is increased and more fuel is needed to produce more power in order to make the vehicle move. Hence, make sure to exercise caution while going for large alloys.
