MG Hector Crosses 10,000 Bookings Mark; Priced From Rs 12.18 Lakhs

MG Hector has now been launched in India, for an introductory price of Rs 12.18 Lakhs and the bookings for it also commenced a couple of weeks earlier.

Priced competitively from Rs 12.18 Lakhs to Rs 16.88 Lakhs (Ex-showroom), the MG Hector makes its India debut. It is an SUV rivalling the likes of Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV500 and the upcoming Kia Seltos.

The bookings for MG Hector commenced in early June 2019, and now it has already crossed the 10,000 bookings mark. The dealerships are also opening across the country and the display units and test ride units will be dispatched soon.

MG Hector Review

The Hector is produced at the company’s plant in Halol, Gujarat. Its the same manufacturing plant where Chevrolet made its cars. This is the first product from MG and the trend will follow soon.

The highlight of MG Hector is the I-Smart connected touchscreen infotainment system that boasts of over 100 features. The 10.4-inch system offers Real Time navigation, Geo Fencing, Vehicle Management, Remote Switch for Climate Control, Fuel Level and Vehicle Range and an AI-based voice assistant.

Hector is offered with two engine options – a 1.5 Litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.0 Litre turbo diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 141 BHP and 250 Nm of peak torque. The Fiat-sourced diesel engine produces 168 BHP and 350 Nm of torque.

MG also offers a 48V mild-hybrid system on the petrol engine. THe petrol-hybrid and diesel engine only get a 6-speed manual gearbox, whereas the petrol engine additionally gets a 6-speed DCT.

Safety features onboard include rear disc brakes, 7 airbags, rear parking sensors, Auto Headlamps, Rain Sensing Wipers, Front parking Sensors and Follow Me Home Headlamps.

The booking for Hector are on going for a token of Rs 50,000. These are introductory prices, which will increase when the demand kicks in. It is available in five colour options – Candy White, Starry Black, Aurora Silver, Burgundy Red and Glaze Red.
