MG will Offer Free Fast Charging to ZS EV Buyers for Limited Period!

Rajeev Chaba, President, MG Motor India has said that ZS EV buyers will be given free access to DC fast charging for a certain period from the time of purchase of the vehicle.

There is much anticipation building around MG’s second product in India, the ZS EV. It will be India’s second mass produced all-electric vehicle and its unveil has been scheduled on December 5. Bookings for the MG ZS EV will commence from next month onwards and it will see its market launch in January 2020.

The MG ZS EV is expected to be powered by a 150hp electric motor and packs a 44.5kWh lithium-ion battery thatโ€™s capable of delivering a claimed range of 335km on the older NEDC test cycle and 262km on the newer WLTP testing procedure. The car takes about 7 hours to charge using a 7kW AC charger, and 40min (from 0-80 percent) using a 50kW DC fast charger.

In an interview with Autocar India, Rajeev Chaba, president and managing director, MG Motor India has confirmed that buyers of the ZS EV will be given free access to DC fast charging for a certain period from the time of purchase of the vehicle. This facility will be available ta all MG fast-charging locations in the five cities that the ZS EV will initially be sold in, them being Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad.

MG will also provide a standard AC charger to every customer of the ZS EV. Earlier this year, the manufacturer teamed up with Delta Electronics India, who will install the AC chargers either at the buyerโ€™s home or office, as per their convenience.

The MG ZS EV will come to India via the CKD (Completely knocked down) route and that has been done in order to keep prices competitive. It is expected to be priced around Rs. 22 lakhs, ex-showroom and its arch rival will be the Hyundai Kona Electric which has a price tag of Rs 23.71 lakh in India.
