The premium mid-size sedan is among the most iconic names in this space
The new 2026 Hyundai Verna facelift was spied performing road tests. Verna bears a rich history by virtue of being one of the biggest names in its class. First launched back in 2006, the sedan underwent numerous updates over the years. As a consequence, it still commands huge appeal and demand even today, after around 2 decades of existence. That is a testament to the kind of popularity it enjoys among car buyers and how well Hyundai has nurtured it. For now, let us take a look at the details of what to expect from the upcoming facelift version.
New 2026 Hyundai Verna Facelift Spotted Testing
The post stems from rushlane on Instagram. The visuals capture a heavily camouflaged sedan plying on the road amidst dense traffic. Look closely and you will recognize that this is the new Hyundai Verna facelift, which will launch in our market in the coming months. At the front, we briefly get a glimpse of the fascia, which possesses sleek LED DRLs on the edge of the bonnet, just like we see on the current model. The sloping bonnet and a large grille area mean we will get a sporty appearance. Also, the black alloy wheels look imposing.
Slowly, the side profile emerges in the video and we are able to experience the chrome belt around the window frames. Apart from the black side pillars, not much is visible. Finally, the tail section contains a shark fin antenna and what looks like connected LED taillamps. The rest of the components are neatly hidden under that black covering. A tiny sneak peek inside the cabin informs us that it will most likely feature the connected display for the driver’s instrument cluster and infotainment system, something we have seen in many modern cars, including the recently launched new-gen Venue. More details will emerge in the coming weeks.
Expected Specs and Price
Now, since it will just be a facelift, I don’t expect the new Verna to bear any changes to the powertrain and transmission options. This means that it will carry a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, which generate a decent 115 PS / 144 Nm and 160 PS / 253 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. Both these engines will be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission. Apart from that, the NA petrol can be paired with a CVT automatic, while the turbo petrol can be had with a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox as well. At present, the prices range from Rs 10.69 lakh to Rs 16.98 lakh, ex-showroom. The facelift version could command a slight premium over these.
| Expected Specs | New 2026 Hyundai Verna Facelift |
| Engine | 1.5L Turbo Petrol / 1.5L NA Petrol |
| Power | 160 PS / 115 PS |
| Torque | 253 Nm / 144 Nm |
| Transmission | 6MT & 7DCT / 6MT & CVT |

Having tracked the Vernaโs evolution since its debut in 2006, I can say Hyundai has mastered the art of keeping this sedan relevant in a rapidly shifting market. Even as SUVs dominate sales charts, the Verna continues to hold strong appeal among urban buyers who value design, refinement, and features. This upcoming facelift seems aimed at reinforcing those strengths rather than reinventing the wheel, a smart move in a segment where consistency often matters more than disruption.
