New-Gen Tata Tiago Launched in ICE, CNG and EV

The hatchback segment in India continues to remain active despite tough competition from micro and compact SUVs

The new-gen Tata Tiago has finally been launched in India in three distinct guises – ICE, CNG and Electric. That makes it one of the most appealing products in this space. In essence, the Indian auto giant wants to ensure that the needs of all sorts of buyers can be met with a single product. Hence, the Tiago is available with multiple powertrain alternatives. Apart from that, it gets a refreshed styling, new-age cabin, tons of modern tech and convenience amenities and solid safety equipment. Let us delve deep into the details of the new Tiago.

New-Gen Tata Tiago – Exterior Styling and Dimensions

The new hatchback bears a modern design philosophy from the Indian car marque, along with vibrant new colours. At the front, we witness a sleek grille section culminating in slim LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs on either side, a sporty bumper and compact fog lamps. Moving down the sides showcases 15-inch diamond-cut dynamic alloy wheels, a sharp line along the body panels and black cladding for wheel arches. Finally, the tail section offers a shark fin antenna with GPS, halo lightbar connected taillamps and a sporty bumper. The main difference between the ICE and electric versions is the front end. Since EVs don’t need fresh air, the Tiago.ev has a sealed-off grille area with a distinct bumper. All in all, the new Tiago is significantly different from the outgoing model.

Yatharth Chauhan, Managing Editor

Having tracked the hatchback segment closely over the years, I believe the Tata Tiago has managed to stay relevant because it caters to a wide variety of buyers with multiple powertrain options. In today’s market, very few products offer the flexibility of petrol, CNG and electric versions under one nameplate, which gives Tata a strong advantage. What stands out to me is how aggressively the company is pushing technology, connectivity and safety features even in relatively affordable segments. In my view, the new-generation Tiago reflects how entry-level hatchbacks in India are steadily evolving into feature-rich and premium everyday mobility solutions.
