Yes, you read that right. The Lambretta scooter is about to make a comeback! Many of you are likely to remember these popular geared-scooters that used to dot our streets several decades ago. Now, it really looks like the new scooter will soon launch in India to once again try and capture the imagination of the two-wheeler buying lot. The company’s latest generation of scooters was recently showcased at EICMA 2017. Soon, these models will launch in Europe early next year. Subsequently, the new Lambretta scooters India launch will take place sometime in 2019.

At this year’s EICMA in Milan, the company came with a range of new scooters, which included – ย V50 Special, V125 Special, and V200ย Special. The company plans to commence its second-innings by launching these three scooters in several markets. It will also come up with more new models in near future. Frankly, details on the India launch date are rather scarce at the moment. However, there are great chances that the new models will make it to our shores before the end of this decade. The latest-gen Lambrettas will be manufactured in Taiwan.

New Lambretta Scooters India Specifications
All the three upcoming scooters will share the same underpinnings. Even the dimensions of these scooters will be largely similar. The smallest of the trio is the V50, which gets aย 49.5cc, air-cooled, carburetted, a single-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 3.5 BHP at 7,500 rpm along with a peak torque of 3.4 Nm. The V125 is considerably more powerful and gets its juice from a 124.7cc, fuel-injected engine. The single-cylinder engine outputs a maximum power of 10.1 BHP at 8,500 rpm along with a peak torque of 9.2 Nm at 7,000 rpm.ย The V200 is the most powerful of the three upcoming Lambretta scooters in India. It gets aย 168.9cc, fuel-injected engine that offers a maximum power of 12.1 BHP at 7,500rpm along with a peak torque of 12.5 Nm at 5,500 rpm.

New Lambretta Scooters India Features
The new Lambretta scooters are fairly feature-laden. They get LED headlamp and LED turb indicators along with telescopic suspension and a 220 mm disc brake for the front wheel. The rear wheel gets a 110 mm drum brake. Another standard feature available on all the three products is aย 12V charging socket and a fully-digital speedo console. Other than this, the scooters get plenty of chrome and many storage spaces.
Speculations abound that Innoceti S.A., the owners of Lambretta, is working to acquire the distribution rights in India. They could even go on to manufacture these scooters in our country.
