The electric iteration of the regular Mahindra XUV 3XO compact SUV was launched yesterday, alongside the new XUV 7XO
In this post, we are comparing the new Mahindra XUV 3XO and the Tata Nexon EV on the basis of price, features, specs, etc. The compact electric SUV space in India is relatively niche. There are only a couple of worthy rivals. In fact, the Nexon EV is the sole leader in this space. It has attracted customers in large volumes ever since its launch back in 2020. The XUV400 (electric version of the XUV300) tried to give it a tough fight. Still, it was not as successful as Mahindra would’ve liked. Now, to challenge the dominance of the Nexon EV, the new XUV 3XO EV is here. The deliveries will commence on February 23, 2026. Let us compare the two thoroughly.
Mahindra XUV 3XO EV vs Tata Nexon EV – Specs
The new Mahindra XUV 3XO is available with a single 39.4 kWh battery pack. The Indian auto giant claims that it is good for a real-world range of around 285 km. That is quite handy for those who use their vehicles in a city environment. The electric motor generates a healthy 110 kW (150 PS) and 310 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. Mahindra says this configuration enables a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 8.3 seconds. These are some decent numbers for a compact electric SUV. Note that the outgoing model even had a smaller 34 kWh battery pack version. It remains to be seen whether or not Mahindra will offer it with the XUV 3XO EV at a later stage.
In contrast, the Tata Nexon EV is available in two versions. These include the Medium Range (MR) with a 30.2 kWh battery and the Long Range (LR) with a larger 40.5 kWh battery. The claimed driving range stands at 325 km for the MR and 465 km for the LR on a single charge. However, the real-world range can vary based on weather conditions and driving habits. Power and torque figures range from 127 hp and 215 Nm to 143 hp and 215 Nm, depending on the variant. Notably, the more powerful version can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.6 seconds. Using a DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 100% in around 56 minutes. The performance figures of the two EVs are quite comparable.

My View
Now, choosing between these two compelling propositions can be quite tricky. On the one hand, we have the Tata Nexon EV, which is among the highest-selling EVs in India. It is based on the famed Nexon compact SUV. There are innumerable trims across a wide range of price points, which makes it more accessible to a wider range of potential customers. On the other hand, the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV is the new product in this space and offers most of the latest tech features and safety equipment as its ICE counterpart. I would encourage our readers to visit their nearest dealerships to experience the two in the flesh to make an informed decision.
