Like always, at this year’s Expo, too, we’ll see a set of imporant new cars making inraods into India’s ever growing car bazaar. Among the most awaited of such models is the Vitara Brezza compact SUV, which promises to give the likes of Ford EcoSport a run for its money! Also coming our way is the Honda BR-V, the Brio-based SUV that many prospective small-SUV buyers and Honda aficionados have been waiting for. On the other end of pricing spectrum, there are the likes of all-new Hyundai Tucson, and even the Mercedes GLC if you look further northwards. Marutiย Suzuki Ignis
The Suzuki Ignisย ‘micro-SUV’ made its debut at the last Tokyo Motor Show and now, the Ignis concept, which is basically the next version of the iM-4 concept that we saw at the Frankfukt Motor Show 2015, will be put on display at the fast approaching Auto Expo 2016. While the Ignis qualifies to be a ‘Kei’ car in Japan, there are very good chances that the Ignis will be positioned in ย the upper-B segment if and when it goes on sale in India.

Maruti Vitrara Brezza
Like we just said, the Maruti Vitara Brezza will become the newest addition to the compact SUV segment and will soon become Maruti Suzuki‘s first-ever compact SUV. The Maruti Vitrara Brezza boasts of a modern, robust-looking design and the manufacturer’s tried and tested Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre Multiet Diesel motors. This EcoSport-rival is entirely designed and developed in India and our country becomes the first market to get this new product. Also, just as in the case of the new Baleno, India will become an export hub for the Vitrara Brezza. Easily the most awaited of allย Upcoming Maruti Cars at Auto Expo 2016!!

Honda BR-V
Among the most awaited new SUV launches at Auto Expo 2016 is the Honda BR-V, a Mobilio-based model that will take on the likes of Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta. The BR-V looks a lot like a Mobilio on steroids and as is easy to guess, the new Honda SUV for India will share in plenty with the donor model. The BR-V has been tailor-made for India and will become the first Diesel-powered SUV from the Indian subsidiary of Honda. Don’t be too surprised to see this model garnering a more positive response than its MPV sibling

2016 Renault Duster Facelift
The Renault Duster is a highly successful nameplate. Responsible for bringing plenty of success to Renault India, the Duster, of late, has been losing some of its popularity. While most of this can be attributed to the advent of the more modern Hyundai Creta, Renault India is surely not the one to lose hope and will now launch the new Duster in India to rekindle the sales performance. Also, the manufacturer is expected to start offering an Automated Manual Transmission to negate the advantage enjoyed by the Creta Automatic. We reckon that it will be interesting to see if a minor facelift and introduction of an AMT will lead to revival of this car’s sales performance.

New Mahindra Quanto/Canto
The Quanto, which was Mahindra’s first attempt at the compact SUV market, failed rather miserably to garner any sort of fan following or popularity. Now, however, Mahindra has readied a refreshed version of its sub-4 metre UV, which is likely to be called as the Canto, and will boast of more stylish exterior, more features and probably, an extremely attractive price tag. The Quanto could also get an AMT for its 1.5-litres Diesel engine.

Tata Hexa
So what if the Aria failed to tickle the taste buds of the Indian car buying lot? Tata is yet to give up on its MPV-ish crossover and how now come up with a more modern, more rugged version that has been christened as the Hexa. Expected to be powered by a more powerful version of the Safar Storme’s 2.2-litre oil-burner, the Hexa could end up giving the XUV500 a run for its money. We expect the Hexa to offer a full-time AWD and a handful of premium features.

New Hyundai Tucson 2016
The Tucson is going to have a comeback in the country with the launch of the latest generation model in the coming months. At the Auto Expo 2016, however, Hyundai will hold a media preview of the upcoming vehicle and all this means is that soon, we’ll be in a better position to speak of the new Tucson’s features list. The Tucson will soon become the third model in the car manufacturer’s SUV portfolio and will sit between the Creta and the Santa Fe. The upcoming Hyundai SUV in India should become a good alternative to the Petrol-only Honda CR-V.

Also coming our way is the VW Tiguan, which is likely to go on sale here in the coming months. Indian car market, in most likelihood, will get the 7-seat variant of the latest generation Tiguan SUV. The upcoming Hyundai Tucson and the Honda CR-V sure has come heat coming their way!

New Toyota Fortuner 2016
Easily the most awaited of the new SUV launches at Auto Expo 2016 is the all-new Toyota Fortuner. While the new gen Toyota Fortuner is still almost a year away from its India launch, Toyota Kirloskar Motors has decided to put the 2016 Fortuner on display at the Auto Expo 2016. It maybe noted that so far, the Fortuner has been at the highest-selling model in its segment, but the advent of the latest generation Endeavour could spell the end of the Fortuner’s dominance. Let’s hope that Toyota Kirloskar Motors brings the new-gen Fortuner before the latest Endy outsells the current model.
