Korean automobile giant Hyundai is all set to unveil the next generation Elantra in April this year in its home country. The car already been caught testing several times, albeit with a heavy camouflage, over the past year. Hence, exact design details are still unavailable. However, what we do know right now is that the design of the next generation Hyundai Elantra will follow the company’s new Fluidic Structure 2.0 design language. The car will make its debut in Korea this year in April along with the next generation Tuscon/iX35 crossover.
The next generation Hyundai Elantra will receive completely new styling similar to the new Sonata and Genesis sedans. The overall silhouette of the test mule resembles the current car, especially the window line but the new car is expected to get a sleeker design, with a bold hexagonal grille upfront and headlamps with LED daytime running lights. The high set design of the rear end looks set to continue though, the tail ย lamps and rear bumpers will be completely new.ย Powertrain options would most likely remain unchanged with the 1.6 litre diesel and 1.8 litre mated to a 6 speed manual or automatic transmission look set to continue.
Presently the Toyota Corolla rules the executive sedan segment in India but the Hyundai has manged to hold its own against the Japanese with an average of around 300 units a month. Even though the next generation Hyundai Elantra will be unveiled globally in April this year information regarding its launch in India is unavailable right now. And with Hyundai planning to launch the facelift some time this year we don’t expect the next generation model to make to India till at least 2016.
