The price increase is attributed to rising input costs. Nissan India has joined other car manufacturer which are set to hike prices starting 1st April.ย

Starting April 2018, Nissan India is going to increase the prices of its entire model line-up in India by 2 percent. The Japanese automaker has attributed this price-hike to the rising input costs. Datsun, which is Nissan’s budget car brand in our country will also face similar price changes.

Nissan India is not the only automobile manufacturer in India which is increasing prices. Several other auto giants are on the same bandwagon. Yesterday, Tata Motors too said that the prices of its entire model line-up will go up by INR 60,000.

Nissan is yet to reveal its model wise price increase list. Consequently, we believe that the current flagship model, which is the Terrano will attract the maximum price hike. Currently, Nissan India sells the Micra hatchback, Sunny mid-size sedan and the Terrano SUV.ย In addition to this, Nissan’s budget brand Datsun sells the Go, Go Plus and the Redi-Go.

Nissan India’s pace in the Indian automotive sector has been rather lukewarm in the recent past. The automaker is shying away from launching new models in our country for some time. Consequently, both the Nissan and Datsun were missing from this year’s Auto Expo.

That said, it does have the Go Cross, under the Datsun brand lined-up for a launch this year. The Go-Cross concept was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. The vehicle is born out of the Go Plus MPV. Most noteworthy, it comes with a much more attractive exterior profile.

The Datsun Go-Cross will compete in the budget 7-seater segment in India. This category already includes the likes of Maruti Ertiga among the others. Furthermore, the vehicle is likely to get a crossover-ish profile. Hence, it is likely to strike the right cors with the Indian buyers.
