For the month of January 2019, Kicks emerged as the highest seller for Nissan in India taking it to a commendable 55% YOY growth in sales.

It looks that for Nissan, the all-new Kicks compact SUV is acting as the ‘kick’ that its sales needed. For the month of January 2019, Nissan sold a total of 1,370 units of the Kicks SUV in the Indian market. Launched on the 23rd of January, this all-new offering from the Japanese automaker has already become the largest selling product of the brand in our country.

With the help of the enthusiastic sales of this vehicle, Nissan alone, excluding the Datsun brand, observed a YOY increase in sales of 55%. However, with the rest of the brand’s product portfolio not performing that well, the overall sales for the automaker observed a decline of 25%.

The Nissan Kicks was launched in India in order to revamp the sales of the automaker. With no new product offerings of-late and an ageing portfolio, sales for the automaker were on a continuous decline. However, with the good response that the Kicks has received, things are looking good for the Japanese automaker in India.

The Nissan Kicks was launched in India at a starting price of INR 9.50 lakhs with its top-spec diesel variant retailing at INR 14.65 lakh (ex-showroom). With this price range, this compact SUV competes against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Renault Capture and the Maruti S-Cross.

It is currently available with both petrol as well as diesel engine options. As of now, Nissan is not offering an automatic gearbox on the Kicks. As standard, for both the petrol and diesel powertrains, this SUV comes with a 6-speed manual transmission unit.

One area where the Nissan Kicks shines high its expansive feature list. It is not just the top-spec variant, but even the base variant is quite richly equipped. Some of the main highlights of the Kicks include a 360-degree surround view, camera, soft-touch materials on the dashboard and door-trims along with some other creature comforts.
