The leaked document suggests that the price of the Nissan Magnite will undercut the entry-level price of the entire segment and even most of the premium hatchback segment. The top-end price is also significantly lesser than rivals.

The sub-compact SUV space is currently the most diverse and wide automobile space in India currently. Each year sees at least a couple of new sub-compact SUVs added to the space and the newest one just around the corner is the new Nissan Magnite. Nissan globally debuted the Magnite earlier last month and we came away hugely impressed with its styling and a few segment first features. Now the Magnite is a very important car for Nissan in India and the company would be looking to price it quite aggressively. Ahead of its official launch, the prices of the Nissan Magnite have been leaked online.

Nissan Magnite Prices Put Into Prespective

As per this leaked document, prices for the Nissan Magnite will be starting from Rs 5.50 lakh and that already undercuts the base price of all other sub-compact SUVs in this space. To give you a perspective, prices for the base-spec Kia Sonet HTE start from Rs 6.71 lakh. Then comes the Hyundai Venue E for a price of Rs 6.75 lakh and then the Tata Nexon XE for a price of Rs 7.00 lakh. The Nissan Magnite thus already undercuts the price of the nearest rival by a huge Rs 1.21 lakh. It even undercuts the entry-level price of most premium hatchbacks barring the Tata Altroz and that’s a huge plus point.

But the base-spec Magnite is not what most of you will be opting for. Even at its top-end XV Premium CVTย variant, the Magnite is only priced at Rs 9.55 lakh. And mind you, that’s the automatic variant. At this price, the Magnite is cheaper than the entry level automatic models of almost all rivals (barring the AMT-equipped Nexon XMA). Every other top-end petrol-automatic variant in this segment crosses the Rs 11 lakh mark. That said, the Magnite might come across as less sophisticated and premium as compared to some of its rivals.

Sources suggest that the official price announcement of the Nissan Magnite could take place as early as late November.

Nissan Magnite Engine Options

Nissan will be offering two 1.0L petrol engine options under the hood of the Magnite. The lower-spec engine on the Magnite is a naturally aspirated B4D dual-VVT 1.0-liter petrol engine that produces 72hp and will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The higher-spec engine is the HRA0 turbo-charged 1.0-liter petrol engine that produces peak power of 95hp. This engine will come mated to either the 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic gearbox. These numbers are still not the best in class and the Magnite might be left wanting for some pace. Also, there will be no diesel engine on offer.
