Nitin Gadkari Gets Hyundai Ioniq 5, Gives Toyota Mirai To Tejaswi Yadav

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has been spotted in a new Hyundai Ioniq electric SUV. He has also given a Hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai to Bihar Deputy CM Tejaswi Yadav.

Nitin Gadkari is getting major recognition for pushing alternative-fueled vehicles in the Indian market. He is also known for some of the recent changes in traffic rules and tech-powered highway travel. The Union Minister for the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is often seen in electric and hydrogen-powered cars. Apparently, he is testing out these expensive vehicles. Recently, he was spotted in a brand-new Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric crossover at the launch of the all-new Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP).

Previously, the MoRTH minister was seen in the new Toyota Mirai. Apparently, he has now given the Hydrogen-powered sedan to Biharโ€™s Deputy CM, Tejashwi Yadav for testing purposes. Nitin Gadkari is regularly trying to convince more leaders to push alternative-fueled vehicles. The Toyota Mirai was launched in March 2022 as part of a pilot program with the International Centre for Automotive Technology, or ICAT. It was inaugurated by Nitin Gadkari to raise awareness about hydrogen and FCEVs.

The second-generation Toyota Mirai is manufactured at the Toyotaโ€™s facility in Karnataka. The fuel-cell electric car offers a range of 646 km when fully charged. It is powered by a uses compressed hydrogen gas. The Toyota Mirai comes equipped with a high-pressure hydrogen fuel tank which has a capacity of 5.2kg. The car’s powertrain converts hydrogen into water and oxygen to power the motor. It comes with a 30 times smaller battery than in normal electric vehicles. In the international market, the Mirai comes with a starting price of around Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom).

Hyundai Motor India launched the new Ioniq 5 EV crossover with a starting price of Rs 44.95 lakh. It comes with a rear-wheel drive configuration. The electric car is powered by a 72.6 kWh lithium-ion battery that supports 800V rapid charging. You can get from 10% to 80% charge in just 18 minutes. The electric motor outputs 217 hp of power and 350 Nm of torque. It offers a stated range of 631 kilometres on a single charge. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 features a retro-futuristic look with sharp lines, highly raked windshields, distinct-looking all-LED headlamps, and 20-inch aero-optimized alloy wheels with a turbine-like design.
