2022 Renault Kwid What Keeps it going?

Renault Kwid has garnered a ton of sales in the original micro-SUV segment and the facelifted version further stands to bolster that.

Renault has relaunched the Kwid with a few minor changes in the market. Kwid turned out to be a great product for the French carmaker mainly due to its SUV-ish characteristics that gel well with our road conditions. Kwid established Renault as a prominent carmaker in India after Duster followed by the likes of Triber and Kiger. Now, the entry-level market space is controlled by Kwid along with the products from Maruti and Hyundai. Let us glance through the changes that the relaunched Kwid comes with.

Renault Kwid Relaunched With Minor Changes

The new Climber variant of the Kwid now comes with an accentuated exterior stylish with the addition of sporty white accents, new dual-tone flex wheels and new colour options including Metal Mustard and Ice Cool White with Black Roof. For the monotone versions, the Climber comes with Moonlight Silver and Zanskar Blue colour themes. It continues to exhibit SUV characteristics with high ground clearance and modern looks with muscular body design, sleek LED DRLs on the bonnet, headlamps on the bumper, blacked-out side pillars, roof rails, stylish alloy wheels, etc.

Interior and Features

The features list is quite extensive too with things like the first-in-class 8-inch Touchscreen MediaNAV Evolution Infotainment System with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Voice Recognition, Reverse Parking Camera with Guidelines, Electrically Adjustable ORVMs and much more. The fuel economy is rated at 22.25 km/l for the 0.8-litre variants which is quite impressive and a major source of attraction for the new customers. The Rs 0.35/km maintenance cost is bound to get people excited about the ownership cost of the Kwid.

Specs

The Renault Kwid still comes with 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre petrol engines producing 54 PS / 72 Nm and 68 PS / 91 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. There is the option of a 5-speed manual gearbox or an AMT (only with the 1.0-litre variant) transmission. The prices for the relaunched Renault Kwid start at Rs 4.49 lakh, ex-showroom. The major rivals include the likes of Hyundai Santro, Tata Punch and Tiago and Maruti S-Presso.
