The recently launched Renault Kwid Electric comes with an affordable price tag AND a 1 star safety rating in Euro NCAP crash tests.
The Renault Kwid Electric has been launched in the European market, however, the affordable electric car comes with a 1 star Euro NCAP safety rating. While the base model of the Comfort trim costs €10,920 (Rs 9.3 lakh), the top variant comes at €12,220 (Rs 10.42 lakh). With the govt grant of around €9,500 (Rs 8.16 lakh), the Dacia Spring electric is one of the most affordable electric cars in Europe. Now, its safety ratings have been released by Euro NCAP.
The Renault Kwid EV comes with dual front airbags and weighed 970 kgs. For both the driver and the front passenger, the company has added a side head airbag and a side chest airbag. Additionally, the driver dummy’s chest is poorly protected, along wth the pelvis. The Renault Kwid EV also lacks a centre airbag to protect against occupant to occupant injuries. While the advanced eCall system partially fulfilled Euro NCAP’s requirements, the car has no multi-collision braking system to prevent secondary impacts.
