Royal Enfield’s Scrambler Bullet 350 And 500 Trials Sees A Dead End

Royal Enfield has discontinued the Bullet 350 and 500 Trials, its own edition of Scrambler. It has been discontinued in less than a year of launch.

To expand its range of motorcycles in India, RE introduced the Bullet 350 and 500 Trials last year in March. In the global markets, it was available in the early 2000s as a cheap knockoff Scrambler version of the regular Bullet. Neither it was conceived well in the global market, nor did it perform in India.

Now, seeing no concrete sales number, Royal Enfield has discontinued the Bullet 350 Trials in India. As of now, it has now received any BS6 update and seems like, there would be none. Royal Enfield has upgraded most of its motorcycles with BS6 engines.

For the past couple of years, RE has been witnessing a slowdown in the sales. One of the best selling two-wheelers of India, Classic 350, has also seen a cold performance. In 2019, RE launched the Bullet 350X and Classic 350 S, which were the base models and ofcourse, cheaper.

Bullet 350 and 500 Trials came with an off-road-focused treatment like rubber fork gaiters, an upswept exhaust, single-seat with a luggage carrier, dual-purpose CEAT tires and a headlamp cover. Trials 350 got a red coloured frame and the Trials 500 got Khaki Green. The 350 went for Rs 1.62 Lakhs and the 500 for Rs 2.05 Lakhs (ex-showroom).

Other than that, both used the same engine, suspension, chassis and braking setup as that of Bullet 350. The engine is BS4 compliant 346cc air-cooled carburetted unit, producing 19.4 BHP and 28 Nm of peak torque. There was no Fuel Injection and it came with the same Twin Spark Ignition.

For suspension, it used telescopic forks at the front and twin gas-charged shock absorbers at the back. For braking purposes, both the bikes get a 280mm front disc brake and a 220mm rear disc brake, paired with dual-channel ABS.

There are chances that some dealers might still have leftover stock of the Trials Edition with heavy discounts. Some dealers have also modified the Trials with a pillion seat and factory-fitted alloy wheels to pass it off as a customized version of Bullet 350.

Royal Enfield is gearing up to introduce four new models in India. Out of the four of them, two of them are sure to be a new cruiser and a roadster. While reports suggest that RE might discontinue the Thunderbird and replace it with a new model.
