Hero Motocorp is launching a new fully faired motorcycle on 1st May. We expect it to be a new generation Karizma with major updates.

Hero has announced that it will be launching the Xpulse 200 and 200T on 1st May 2019. However, anonymous sources close to the company have revealed that there is a third product also launching that day.

The details are scarce at the moment, but the officials have further hinted that it will be a fully faired motorcycle. Interestingly, it was recently spied undisguised.

We suspect the fully faired motorcycle to be a new generation of Karizma, with the engine from Xtreme 200R. All four Hero motorcycles will share the same 200cc engine.

Hero Karizma has been a flop for the past few years now. Due to its poor sales, it was discontinued for a short period a couple of years back. However, the manufacturer then rolled another update for the bike, with a BS-4 engine.

Currently, the manufacturer barely manages to sell 3-4 units of Karizma every month. The upcoming fully faired model might bolster the sales of Hero in the premium motorcycle segment.

The recently spotted bike was spotted in Red colour with a single-piece handlebar and a fully digital instrument cluster. Could it be the sports tourer version of Xpulse 200? Or could it be a fully faired commuter going against Fazer 25 and Pulsar 220F?

The engine onboard will be a 199.5cc air-cooled single-cylinder unit, that is tuned to deliver 18.7 BHP and 17.1 Nm of peak torque. The motor comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

For suspension purposes, it will get telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the back. Braking will be handled by disc brakes at both the ends with a single-channel ABS as standard.

We expect the prices of the upcoming bike to be around Rs 1.1-1.2 Lakhs (ex-showroom). Hero had earlier stated that it will try to keep most of its premium models near the 1-Lakh budget.
