Updated on 11th February 2013

Skoda tasted what the volume success meant in India with the launch of the Skoda Rapid sedan and courtesy ICB, a small change in the variant heavy lineup of the car has come to light. The car is currently sold in 5 variants each in petrol and diesel guises and has 2 trim levels in the automatic petrol arena in addition to the existing 5. Skoda has fiddled a little bit with the lineup and has brought down the number of variants of the car from 12 to 8.

Skoda has removed the Active and Ambition trims of the car in both the motors. The Active Plus now becomes the base model instead of the Active variant and gets a remote control with foldable key and the remote control locking can unlock the doors as well as the boot lid. The trim level also gets electrically adjustable wing mirrors to give you that extra comfort. Also the top end Elegance trim gets a few more features to complement the over all updation of the lineup.

The top end trim gets a leather wrapped steering wheel coupled with a leather wrapped gear knob. It gets an additional chrome treatment here and there in the car as well. The Ambition variant now goes put of production to make way for the Ambition Plus variant which now comes with an additional chrome treatment, a 2 DIN audio player with front and rear speakers, a card reader, child-proof windows at the back, one touch automatic operation for the windows and electrically adjustable mirrors to name a few.

Skoda Rapid Interios

Skoda Rapid is quite the VFM car and the sales figures show the acceptance of the least priced Skoda in the country. The 2012 models are available for a discount of Rs.70,000 in cash and you might just get a heavier discount on the models going out of production. You get a free insurance on 2012 as well as 2013 models. Skoda just brought some newer features, eliminated older models and rounded up the 2013 model quite softly. Do tell us as to what you feel about this update to the Rapid.
