Jimny-Modified-1

This a modified Jimny that has been made to look the first-gen Land Rover Defender with a custom body-kit called the โ€˜Little:Dโ€™. And it really does convincingly look like a little Defender.

The Suzuki Jimny has become an iconic car over the generations for being a proper budget friendly off-roader. It is currently in its forth generation but its basic philosophy has remained the same ever since its inception โ€“ light weight, compact dimensions and great off-road capability. This also makes the Jimny a very popular car in the after market scene and you will find numerous Jimnyโ€™s modified for even better off-road capability. Here we have an example of a modified Jimny that combines its iconic stature with yet another off-road icon and the result is bonkers.

Is this a Jimny or a Defender? Or perhaps a Jimny modified to be a Defender.

Whatโ€™s the other iconic name that comes to your mind when someone says offroad? Well, we are talking about the Land Rover Defender and this Jimny pictured above is the remarkable combination of both. This is essentially a custom body kit for the Jimny that is called the โ€˜Little:Dโ€™ and it has been built by DAMD. This body kit essentially makes the Jimny look like the previous-generation Land Rover Defender and we must admit that it looks rather authentic.

There have been no major sheet metal changes on this Jimny โ€“ other than the hood โ€“ to make it look like the Defender but the key lies in the details. And that start with the face. The Suzuki grille has been replaced by a lookalike of the grille found on the original Defender and thereโ€™s even a โ€˜Little:Dโ€™ lettering on the bonnet, mimicking Land Roverโ€™s style of writing โ€˜Defenderโ€™ on the hood of the Defender. Coming back to the hood, it too has been designed like the one on the original Defender, only made into a size to fit the Jimny.

There however seems to be no mechanical change in terms of off-road hardware or even under the hood.

The headlamp and indicators however have been kept stock including its casing but thereโ€™s an additional lamp in the casing as well. Its interesting to note that the original Defender does not differ much in the style of its headlamps and indicators. The custom body kit also brings with it heavy-duty off-road bumpers with integrated fog lamps and a metal skid plate, flared wheel arches with mud flaps, a heavy-duty bumper at the rear as well and a custom roof rack for some added rugged appeal. The steel wheels with off-road tires look very classy and will be better off-road as well.

Overall, this Jimny convincingly looks like a little Defender and there are more โ€˜Little:Dโ€™ badges at the rear as well. Like most other modifications on Jimnyโ€™s, this too has been modified to further enhance its off-road capability and it really looks like its ready for some dirt. This body kit can either be had as a complete package or the parts can also be bought individually. With the complete package, you also get the additional choice of โ€˜WILDBOARโ€™ wheels, or you can choose to have the โ€˜DEAN Cross Country wheels, with or without the rest of the body kit. There however seems to be no mechanical change in terms of off-road hardware or even under the hood.
