Tata Harrier posts 1,449 sales for the month of February 2019!

A total of 1,449 units of the Tata Harrier were dispatched to the dealerships during the month of February 2019, more than the Jeep Compass.

At the ongoing 2019 geneva Motor Show, Tata Motors has unveiled a bag full of new products, surprising us all and leaving us wanting for more. Among the products revealed at the Auto Show include the Altroz premium hatchback, Altroz EV, the Buzzard seven-seater and the H2X compact SUV concept. Tata Motors has also made the European premier of the Harrier, chirstening it as the Buzzard Sport.

Back home, the recently launched Harrier seems to have made its way to the hearts of Indian buyers. For the month of February 2019, the homegrown automaker dispatched a total of 1,449 units of the Harrier to its dealerships. In comparison, this figure for the Jeep compass stood at 1,304 units and for that of the Mahindra XUv 500 at 1,806 units.

The Tata Harrier currently retails in India positioned in-between the price range of INR 12.69 lakh to INR 16.25 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with the likes of Mahindra XUV 500, Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta and the Nissan Kicks.

The Tata Harrier is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine. This unit is capable of churning out 140 BHP of power along with 350 Nm of peak torque. This engine is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. At the moment, the Harrier is not available with an automatic transmission option. Neither does it comes with a 4×4 derivative. However, it does pack in Land Rover inspired terrain response system for the traction control system.

It is confirmed that the Harrier is soon going to get an automatic gearbox in its line-up. The aforementioned gearbox is a 6-speed unit which will be sourced from Hyundai. This two-pedal technology will make its debut with the seven-seater derivative of this vehicle set to launch in India within the 2019-20 fiscal. Also, the one with the extra row of seats is going to come with a 4×4 drivetrain as well.
