Reports suggest that Tata has stopped the production of Safari Storme of its discontinuation in the Indian market from April 2020.

The upcoming BS-6 norms and the recently kicked in safety norms took a toll on another beloved car. Earlier this year, Tata confirmed that the Safari Storme will no longer be available in India post-April 2020.

Ahead of that, the production of Tata Safari has been stopped completely. The beloved SUV is only available till stocks last at the dealerships. As far as our findings in Delhi NCR, most of the dealerships no longer have the Safari. A couple of units are still available in Mumbai.

We expect Tata Motors to make it official in the coming months. However, till now, even the discontinuation of Nano has not been made official. Launched back in 2012, the Safari Storme replaced the Safari Dicor and the OG Safari, launched in 2007 and 1998 respectively.

Tata Safari Storme gets a 2.2 Litre four-cylinder Varicor engine for the base LX and EX variant, while the VX and VX 4X4 variants use the Varicor 400 version. The motor on the base variants produces 150 BHP and 320 Nm of peak torque, while on the other variants, it produces 156 BHP and 400 Nm of peak torque.

For off-roading, the Safari Storme gets All Terrain 4X4 with Electronic Shift-On-Fly, 200mm of ground clearance and new 17-inch alloy wheels. The base variants come with a 5-speed manual gearbox while the VX and VX 4X4 get a 6-speed MT.

Features onboard include Electrically Foldable and Heated ORVMs, Roof Mounted Rear AC vents, 2-DIN infotainment system with Bluetooth Connection, Rear Parking Sensors, Steering-Mounted Audio Controls and its biggest highlight, the old-school REAL SUV charm.

The prices of Tata Safari Storme start at Rs 11.09 Lakhs going up to Rs 16.43 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). In this price range, now you have a lot of SUVs that come with more features. Over the past few years, Safari chose to remain an enthusiast’s prized collection and will continue to do so.
