This video comes from AUTOMOTIV17 on YouTube. The host reviews this new trim of the Tiago hatchback. He takes it out on the road. He is surprised to see the performance on the highway. The hatchback accelerates well even in normal mode. If you want to drive it enthusiastically, you can engage the Sport mode as well. It holds the gear until the red line and delays the shifts. That offers incredible performance. In this test, there are 5 people in the vehicle. Still, the car doesn’t feel underpowered at all. The slight jerks inherent to AMT gearboxes are present. But the host mentions that it is much smoother in comparison to the older models. He even drives it at over 150 km/h with 5 people. All in all, the drive is smooth, the suspension is pliant and the ride is stable.

The Taigo CNG comes with a 1.2-litre engine which generates 72 hp and 95 Nm of peak power and torque. In the petrol version, this engine makes 84 hp and 113 Nm. There are options of choosing between either a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic gearbox. That makes it among the first CNG cars to have an automatic transmission. The prices of the CNG model range from Rs 6.60 lakh to Rs 8.90 lakh, ex-showroom. There is also the same powertrain and transmission in the Tigor CNG which is the sedan version of Tiago.

Author’s Note

CNG is a great alternative to petrol cars in this day and age. The prices of petrol are through the roof. Hence, potential car owners are looking for cars with low running costs. Due to the strict emission norms, many carmakers are ditching diesel mills. In big cities with enough infrastructure, CNG is a great option. The fact that CNG cars can run on both CNG and petrol ensures that the owners don’t have range anxiety. When they run out of CNG, they can simply switch to petrol with a flick of a button. That is the reason why CNG cars have experienced high growth in recent times.
