Tata Tiago

Tata Tiago is the safest hatchback that you can buy under Rs 5 Lakhs with a safety rating of 4-star. Check out the example of its build quality here.

Here is another example of the strong build quality of Tata Tiago that we got to know. You may have seen many examples of the hatchback involved in more horrific crashes but saving the lives of passengers. This time, the hatchback crashed into a tree at a decent speed but went away with just a dent. On the other hand, the tree received comparatively more damage.

The owner crashed his two-year-old Tata Tiago into a tree that was on the side of a road. Looks like it was raining because the soil and tree both are wet. However, you can see that nothing actually happened to Tiago. On the front bumper, there is just a minor scratch. Also, the bracket of the bumper has opened up towards the driver side which can just be repaired by hand itself.

On the other hand, the tree has received more damage. Many users have commented that it looks fake based on the damage to the tree, but the owner claims that it is real. No injuries to the passengers obviously. The car would have just been going at about 30 km/hr and that’s why there are no airbags also deployed. Usually, when the car senses an impact and if the speed is above 40 km/hr, the airbags come out.

Tiago has received a 4-star rating for adult occupants and 3-star rating for child occupants. Same rating comes for the Tigor, which is basically based on the same platform. Safety features onboard include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX as standard fitment. The top-end trims further come with a rear parking camera and fog lamps as well.

Prices of Tiago start at Rs 4.69 Lakhs up to Rs 6.72 Lakhs (ex-showroom). It runs on a 1.2 Litre three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 86 PS and 116 Nm of peak torque, paired with either a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT. Due to the BS6 emission norms, its highly efficient and torquey diesel engine has been discontinued.
