Tesla Owners Could Make Their EVs into Robotaxis

Elon Musk has indicated that Tesla EV owners could earn around $30,000 if they turn their cars into robotaxis. There is always something interesting that Elon Musk is upto. This latest tweet has been shared by many social media and news media outlets. Tesla is the biggest EV maker in the world. In fact, it is the reason for the EV revolution around the globe, particularly in the last decade. It keeps innovating to ensure that it stays ahead of the curve. Tesla Owners Could Turn EVs into Robotaxis

This conversation has been uploaded by Tesla Hype on Twitter. It captures Musk explaining his ambitions with this project. He calls it a perfect combination of something like the Uber and Airbnb model. Essentially, when the Tesla EV owners are not using their cars, they car list them in the Tesla network. From there, the electric cars could be used as robotoxis as per the need on the Tesla app. The users will be able to summon the EV and ask them to drop them to their destinations. All this will be done without a human driver in the car.

To make this entire process even more attractive, Musk thinks that the EVs owner will be able to generate an income of around $30,000 per year. This is quite attractive indeed. With the existing version of its Autopilot software, it is able to achieve Level 4 self-driving capabilities. There is only one more step to go to reach level 5. Level 5 is the full self-driving capability. With relentless work in this area, Tesla clearly has tons of plans to shape the future. EVs are definitely a huge part of that future, which doesn’t seem all that far away.

What We Think

Elon Musk is always cooking something ground-breaking. He is intensely involved in Tesla and Twitter. He is an avid believer in technology. That is why he keeps coming up with methods to leverage technology to make human lives better and more convenient. The fully autonomous driving is certainly a part of that ambition. Interestingly, Tesla looks quite near to the path-breaking achievement. However, we must take care of the safety aspects with such technology. There are already numerous cases of crashes while people misuse these features in their cars. Appropriate policies will need to arrive to ensure that the safety of the passengers is not at stake.
